Modular kitchen cost in Kolkata: what belongs in your quotation?
Cabinets are only part of the budget. Understand layouts, finishes, hardware and the items to check before comparing kitchen prices.
The most useful answer to “How much will my modular kitchen cost?” starts with a layout and a specification. Cabinet length alone cannot tell you the final price: internal fittings, shutters, countertop work and service changes can all alter the scope.
A kitchen for regular family cooking also needs to be planned around how you prepare food, store ingredients, wash utensils and use appliances.
Start with the measured layout
A straight, L-shaped or U-shaped arrangement needs different quantities of cabinetry and different corner solutions. An island requires enough surrounding circulation and appropriate service planning; it should not be added simply because it looks attractive in a photograph.
Measure doors, windows, ceiling height and existing plumbing points. Confirm appliance dimensions before finalising modules. Fridge clearance, chimney provision and the opening direction of shutters all matter.
Specify the cabinet construction
Ask for the proposed cabinet material and thickness, shutter finish, edge treatment, back panels and installation details. For areas close to water, discuss suitable specifications and maintenance expectations with the designer.
The quote should identify hardware clearly. Soft-close hinges, drawer systems, baskets, tall storage and corner accessories are not interchangeable items, and a generic “premium fittings” description is difficult to compare.
Separate the full scope
Request individual allowances for:
- Base and wall cabinets, lofts and tall units.
- Shutters, handles, hinges and drawer systems.
- Countertop, cut-outs, edge finishing and backsplash.
- Sink, tap, hob, chimney and other appliances.
- Electrical or plumbing changes and any civil repairs.
- Delivery, installation, taxes and removal of existing units.
Confirm whether the price is calculated per module, per running foot, per square foot of a defined surface or as a complete package. Compare quotations only after the measurement method and inclusions are aligned.
Use a budget example carefully
If your own kitchen allowance is ₹3 lakh and you set aside ₹50,000 for separately purchased appliances, ₹2.5 lakh remains for all other agreed work. This is arithmetic to help organise a budget, not an advertised Ayaana kitchen price or a promise that a particular specification fits that amount.
Keep an allowance for changes discovered after dismantling an existing kitchen. Any extra work should be described and approved before execution.
Spend where it improves daily use
Prioritise a workable layout, suitable materials, reliable hardware and competent installation. Use decorative finishes selectively. A kitchen should be easy to clean, comfortable to use and specific to your cooking habits.
